Lev Lominago's work is featured all over the world.
He displayed artistic talent at an early age, and was selected for
entrance into the Art Academy for Gifted Youth in Leningrad, Russia.
He continued his studies at the Leningrad Art Institute until his
graduation in 1963. While he received much criticism for his
religious expressions at the time, Lev persevered in his study of the
complex technique of ancient iconography and egg tempera.
To escape persecution for his artistic beliefs, Lev
fled to the U.S. in 1974 with his wife and daughter. He was
diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1979, and within a year he was forced
to paint from a wheelchair. Still, his career continued to flourish
until 1990 when he became quadriplegic. His final painting was
commissioned by Malcolm Forbes and Elizabeth Taylor. Lev Lominago
died of MS-related causes on October 28, 1999 at the age of 55.
